Welcome
Furnace B&B sits on the foothills of the Partry Mountains and on the
banks of the River Cloon. Lough Mask is a casual two kilometers downstream.
The purpose built house is surrounded by 72 acres of ecological rich lands
which includes fertile bogs, mature woodlands and lush meadows.
In designing the house Paul & Frances endeavoured to make it accessible to all, especially those with disabilities. Built on one level with entrance ramps, wide doorways, wet rooms with large turning circles, grab rails and easy open casement windows it is fully compliant with current regulations and a grade one fire alarm.
While this rural setting is unspoiled it is also easily accessible. Trains
stations at Westport (20mins) and Castlebar (20mins), along with Ireland
West International Airport (Knock) 45mins, Shannon 2hours and Galway 45mins
create a link from Dublin and overseas. The drive from Dublin takes 3.5
hours.
The construction of a specialised fishing jetty with wheelchair hoist is currently under way. Activity breaks such as fishing, art classes, ecological tours, language courses are at present being compiled, so watch this space.
